About Consilience Now Press

Consilience Now Press is a small, independent imprint with a simple conviction: the questions worth a whole book rarely respect the walls we build between departments. What consciousness is, whether a machine can have it, how to live a meaningful life in a universe made of computation — none of these can be answered from inside a single discipline, and all of them are more interesting when physics, philosophy, artificial intelligence, and the contemplative traditions are allowed into the same room.

Consilience is E. O. Wilson's word for the unity of knowledge across the sciences and the humanities — the idea that, underneath the specialties, there is one connected explanation of the world. Consilience Now Press takes that idea as a mandate. We publish books that read widely and argue carefully, that are ambitious without being loose, and that trust the reader to follow a real line of reasoning rather than a stream of reassurance.

Who runs it

Consilience Now Press was founded by Justin Harnish, a writer and technologist working at the border of AI, complexity science, and the philosophy of mind. He is the author of Meaning in the Multiverse, the debut Consilience Now Press title, and the founder of ConsciousGPT, an independent research effort into machine consciousness. Consilience Now Press began as the vehicle for his own books and is growing, deliberately and slowly, into a home for other writers working the same seam.

What we publish

  • Consilient nonfiction — big-idea books that braid the sciences and the humanities into a single argument.
  • Contemplative and practical works — attention, awareness, and the craft of thinking clearly and writing well.
  • Speculative and forward-looking essays — where the frontier of AI meets the oldest questions about mind and meaning.

If that describes a book you are writing, the submissions page explains how to reach us.
